Jaw Surgery

Jaw surgery (Orthognathic surgery) is sometimes necessary to correct the position of your jaw.

Symptoms and signs that indicate a need for orthognathic surgery may include the following;

  • Difficulty chewing or biting food
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Problems with speech
  • Pain in the jaw or headaches
  • Unbalanced facial appearance
  • An unnaturally protroding jaw
  • Receding chin
  • Chronic mouth breathing with dry mouth
  • Chronic snoring and sleep apnoea

These symptoms can indicate a misalignment of the jaws. Orthognathic surgery can help with the correction of these symptoms and relieve of pain and discomfort in your jaw area.
